Duygu Sezer

Duygu SEZER, DVM, PhD

She graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Istanbul University in 2013. She completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Surgery at the same faculty. Her doctoral thesis focused on “Endoscopic Examination of the Intrasolomic Cavity in Exotic and Wild Birds.”

She has worked as a veterinary surgeon and consultant in various veterinary clinics across Istanbul.

She volunteered at several wildlife rehabilitation and conservation centers, including Kafkas University Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Samandağ Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, Lisinia Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, the KuzeyDoğa Bird Ringing Station, Kuyucak Lake Restoration Project, and the European Bird Atlas Project. She also conducted research for her thesis at Darıca Zoo and worked as a research veterinarian at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Facultat de Veterinària.

She has played an active role in the Exotic Animal Commission of the Istanbul Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons and in the KHEDI Association.

She has published articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals on various topics such as:

  • Anesthesia in cats and dogs

  • Open wound healing and rhinoscopy

  • Orthopedics, urolithiasis, and pododermatitis in rabbits and rodents

  • Tracheoscopy, contrast-enhanced imaging techniques, and foreign body removal in birds

  • Endoscopy and oophorectomy in turtles
